Rose Wine: 2018 | Bodegas Ramon Bilbao | Lalomba Rosado
Made from old vine Grenache, this is yet another peachy-pink and very pale style, very un-typically Spanish compared to more traditional rosados, and very much about bright fruit aromas and flavours, though dry in the finish.

Detailed Description
Made from old vine Grenache, this is yet another peachy-pink and very pale style, very un-typically Spanish compared to more traditional rosados, and very much about bright fruit aromas and flavours, though dry in the finish. As well as the stone fruits, thre’s a touch of passion fruit and elderflower, then the palate is juicy and filled with peach and an apple juice acid freshness. Tasty and has a bit of character.

Producer Information
Bodegas Ramon Bilbao is a Spanish wine producer, located in Haro of northwest Rioja. It produces a portfolio of wines based on the Tempranillo grape variety. The Bodega was founded in 1924 by Ramon Bilbao Murga. It remained within the family for the next 40 years until the last descendant of the family died. In 1999 the Diego Zamora liqueur company purchased the winery and began an extensive program of modernization. In the winery today, innovation is applied to the vinification regime; grapes are classified with optical selection with investment into precision viticulture and yeast research underway. Oak barrels are kept under five years of age with no filtration or clarification employed prior to bottling. There are currently 265 hectares (654 acres) of vinyards cultivated by the company planted to Tempranillo, Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc. Plots are found scattered throughout the DOCs of Rueda and Rioja. The flagship of the wine portfolio is the Ramon Bilbao Mirto Singular Distinction, a 100 percent Tempranillo. It is only produced in exceptional vintages from the oldest vines in Haro. The ocmpany remains within the portfolio of Diego Zamora of which includes mulitple other brands such as Martin Miller’s Gin and Villa Massa amoungst others.
